Agriculture, a key part of the NEW DIRECTION revolution, took another step forward as all Kogi farmers were given yet another great news that will increase production, generate valuable revenue and turn around the financial influx in Kogi State. Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello has now instructed the immediate bolstering of the productivity of all farmers by providing them with free fertilizers.

Representing Governor Bello at the event, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Abubakar Sadiq Ohere expressed his appreciation at the consideration given to him by the Governor to oversee the flag off of the fertilizer distribution to farmers in all the 21 LGAs of Kogi State. He stated that Bello has prioritized agriculture, with a large chunk of the State’s revenue being submerged into reviving the agricultural sector. He said that great results have hence been achieved in just three years, with the Omi Rice Mill already completed and the rice products hitting the market as soon as possible.

Ohere said that Governor Bello, being a farmer himself, has taken the agricultural revolution to the NEXT LEVEL, and has provided the fertilizers to all farmers in all the LGAs with the aim of relieving th man lf a lot of costs incurred in planting crops. He stated that what used to be heard in the past was a lack of support or subsidized payment, but in this case, they had been provided free of charge.

Ohere then declared that all Kogi State farmers through their Administrators will be provided with the product, irrespective of anyone’s political beliefs. He charged them all not to succumb to the dealings of some unscrupulous elements, and urged them to collect their fertilizers without any payment.

The ALGON secretary and Chairman of Olamaboro LGA, *Hon. Friday Adejoh* stated their satisfaction at the move, and stated that despite the fact that most of them had been brought up on the farm, they had never witnessed a political tenure whereby fertilizer had been given to the people free of charge. He promised that all the Administrators were committed to ensuring that the fertilizers get to the right hands.

Dignitaries present at the event included the representative of the President of the Kogi State Council of Chiefs, The Onyoba of Ozo, HRM Dr Ahmed Idoko II and other Traditional rulers, The Perm Sec, Ministry of Agriculture, Mr. Emmanuel Idenyi; the State Auditor General, Alhaji Ahmed Ododo; The Administrator of Olamaboro, Hon. Friday Adejoh; the Administrator of Ajaokuta, Hon. Mustapha Aliyu Aka’aba and other Administrators, the State Publicity Secretary, Hon. Jibril Abu a.k.a WisdomBank and a host of others.
